Jude Benhalim is a Cairo-based jewellery designer who founded her namesake brand when she was 17-years-old, alongside her mother, Rana Alazm. Born and raised in Egypt, Benhalim – who graduated from the American University of Cairo with a Film degree – grew up in the ideal environment for pursuing design. She draws upon her family’s unique roots and her vibrant surroundings to create intricately handcrafted pieces with a modern female spirit in mind, empowering women to powerfully embrace and express their individuality with bold yet flattering designs. The designer is constantly on the lookout for new ideas to bring to her line, and is inspired by the women who wear her cutting-edge jewellery as much as the women who fill her life. Through her work, she balances the delicate pull of modernity and tradition, and blodness and femininity. “I consider my aesthetics as a combination of contemporary art and Middle East craftsmanship," she said, speaking to Vogue Italia. “Traditional Egyptian jewellery is revisited with a fresh and modern twist, and this is what I think really differentiates my brand from any other. My designs are inspired by modern art and architecture, by rigid shapes and abstract constructions. There is always a starting point for every new collection, a virtual space that inspires me."
