Biography
Founded in 2014 by Frank Aghuno, Nigerian brand Fruché is a ready-to-wear brand that fuses together contemporary design and elements of the designer’s Bini heritage. Fueled by a mission to challenge the narrative of how Nigerian women are expected to dress, the designer created a line for the modern woman; one who is not afraid to push the boundaries of traditional expectations of dressing. The Fruché woman is a fearless leader; she’s a hard worker and knows how to treat herself, she’s progressive and immersed in culture.
As a child, the designer has memories of taking his mother’s Ankara head scarves and repurposing them into daring outfits. As a lifelong lover of fashion, he has continued to explore his creative exploits into adulthood. Today, his collections feature stand-out pieces in unconventionally feminine silhouettes that boast an emphasis on deft tailoring. A cutting-edge mix of sumptuous traditional materials and unexpected silhouettes, each piece is inspired by its own unique story, and rooted in West African heritage.
Since its launch, the brand has slowly garnered international press via online titles such as Elle and Essence.
